- Claire LADAVICIUS, Photgraph

  • Claire Ladavicius is a French photographer who has lived in The Gambia since 2004. Before making her passion for photography her profession, Claire spent ten years working for an international NGO which gave her the opportunity to travel widely across West Africa amongst other countries.
  • Published and exhibited internationally, Claire’s photographs focus on people, their environment and their livelihood. She ‘needs’ people in her photographs to bring life, emotion and feeling to her work.
  • Commissioned by numerous companies in The Gambia, Claire shoots - and enjoys very much - family photo sessions (outdoor or in her studio in Fajara) and weddings. She sometimes travels for UN photo assignments and still loves to capture new faces and places, which is how her photographic journey started.

- YUSPAKALA, Painter

  • Adebayo Yusufu, known as Yuspalkala is a nigerian contemporary artist living in the Gambia and internationally renowned. Yuspalkala is a painter and sculptor of African sunjects. He was born in mainland Lagos State on 17th October 1969.
  • Yuspalkala specializes in oil and acrylic on canvas, particularly on African entertainment using a variety of artistic movements, suc as cubism, futurism, Dadaism, minimalism, impressionism, etc.
  • All his paintings are rich in colors with ideas and sensation of Africa culture. Painting gave him a tremendous feeling of achievment of being able to do somehing extremely difficult, and well done.
  • Art however, allowed him the privilege to interpret for the public his concepts on relationship in culture between art and life.

  • Patrick Engard native of Southwest of France, more exactly from the basin of Arcachon,a well-known place in the region, has been living in Gambia for the past forteen years
  • This french Citizen has developed his creativity in using different materiels such as floated wood, mosaic, paint and drawing.
